How did you get into bodybuilding?

When I was in school all my friends were into video games and going out to cafes, but I had a goal to have a different physique and to be strong and healthy. I start going to the gym when I was 11 years old with my elder brother and I start loving being in shape later on, old school bodybuilders inspired me to work hard and achieve my goals.

What are the main competitions that you have participated in and what were the prizes and positions you have won?

I went through almost all thee local bodybuilding competitions in the Egyptian governorates when I was only 17 years old. I won Cairo’s and the Egyptian amateur competitions several times placed 1st in all. then I went to Arab championships but unfortunately I fell down due to dehydration before I step on the stage and I was about to die and I was 21.  After 2 years (Early 2014) I heard about “The Show” which is the first physique championship Programme on Egypt Season One. Thankfully I placed first and earned the grand prize of 100K EGP. Later in the same year (2014( I got sponsored by the British supplements company USN who helped me to compete in the largest federation specializing in Physique, THE WBFF (World Beauty Fitness and Fashion) Europe championship, I competed as an Amateur Muscle Model with 50 different contestants from 20 countries, and I placed first, earned a PRO Card to be the first professional Egyptian and Arabic Muscle Model.

November 2015, I stepped on the same stage in London but this time to compete with the best physiques across the globe as a professional , with 8 professional muscle models from USA, England, France, South Africa, Cyprus and Belgium; I placed first, hamdu’lelaa’h, beating the former European Champion who placed third and the twice World champion who placed second. I was the first Egyptian and Arabic winner in the history of this federation over 10 years.

How long do you spend training per week

I train six times per week in the off-season and twice daily six days a week before competitions.

Who do you look up to as a role model?

Muscle/Fitness modeling is a totally new trends from bodybuilding where it is about achievable physiques by regular people not about the bigger the muscles Therefore I am the first Egyptian to be classified an International Muscle model, but at the end bodybuilding is the mother sport, and there are a lot of current Egyptian Champions in this sport and almost all of them are my colleagues and friends as I started as a lightweight bodybuilder. On the other hand everyone in this sport looks up to Arnold Schwarzenegger as a godfather and inspiration to us all. I hope to meet him some day.

Do you follow a certain dietary plan and can you give some hints about it?

As an ambassador I should be on shape the year round, so I keep myself motivated especially if it comes to my diet because it is very strict. And in off season I try always to keep clean and healthy food as my only choice staying away from junk food and sweets. I gain lean muscles using a diet of 4500 KCAL per day, in maintenance I drop it to 3500 KCAL and in regular cutting I drop it even more to 2500 KCAL/day. In lean gain I can consume steamed rice/mashed potato and dry pasta as my carbohydrate sources. In maintenance phase I stop the pasta and mashed potato and add sweet potato instead along with white rice. In the cutting or shredding phase I consume only Brown Rice and small portions of sweet potato.

All during the year I prefer healthy fat choices from Almond and coconut oil (MCTs) and limited olive oil in cooking to avoid high temperatures. In the gain phase I can use beef as a main source of protein along with chicken, fish, eggs and dairy products. As I do not gain a lot I was crave for beef to change sources, While In maintenance I add more tuna but also I have to be careful due to the sodium and mercury contained in tuna, but in cutting I only use chicken breasts and egg whites.

What is your major dream?

I love meeting people and fans and I got touched when someone ask to take a selfie or a photo with me, so I only dream to be an inspiration to others to help people achieve their goals and to be remembered after 20 or 30 years as one of the few guys like the legendary Arnold, I will not say to change the history but indeed to change the history of this sport.

Is there anything you would like to add in important quotes or statements?

I want to add that going to the gym, lifting weights, doing cardio training and consume healthy food is not only for bodybuilders, it is a lifestyle and every single athlete in any other sport should stick to this routines to be always in the first line in what he did. Sports and a healthy life keeps everyone away from disease and stress, and keep your mood always at its best.
