The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award

Representatives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE,
has developed and endowed a prize for sports ingenuity called the Creative Sports Award.

Recently representatives of the Award’s Council visited Egypt to meet with the country’s top sporting oficials including General Mounir Sabet,president of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Eng. Hassan Sakr, Chairman of the National Sports Council and Dr. Mosaad Ewees,
President of the Sports Professions Syndicate, to spread awareness of the prize. H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaif, Secretary General of the Award asked them to encourage oficials in government and executives in the private sector to stimulate the sports sector. He said that the philosophy of this prize is to make contact with institutions involved with sports to nominate the people they have, and also to present their projects and their initiatives that have been applied successfully in Arab societies according to the award’s criteria Dr. Nagy Esmaeel Hamed, administrator of the
award, explained that the major objective is to promote the best sporting practices in stage one in 2009, before moving on to do same on a global level in stage two, starting from 2010 when the award becomes international. He added that the MBRCSA, which is one of the best sports awards at Arab and International levels, has a total prize money of US$1.5
million and its being held under the auspices of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.This Creative Sports Award is a product of H.H.Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s foresight to honour the
creative thinkers who contribute to sports, either on the individual
level; player, administrator, coach, on the team level, and also in sporting clubs and public and private institutions.

The delegation has made a tour of many Arabic speaking countries to spread awareness of this prize. They have already visited Morocco, Tunisia, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, the inauguration of the Asian Olympics and nowEgypt. Next they will visit Jordon.
General Sabet, speaking on behalf of Egyptians gave thanks to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed, and said he will support it, as this prize will be the best motivation for creative athletes or other people who work in the
ield of sports.
