As most of us know Gymnastics is one of the popular sports in Egypt that always attract a big hug of fans especially for those who have high taste and appreciation for art. It’s not only a success with the audience, the athletes as well, especially those whose are growing up in Africa and in the Arab, in the recent years, since they had won many Medals and titles during the African Championship and Arab games.

The best Olympic achievement

The participation with 4 athletes is the best of all the time, and for results, it was at Beijing 2008, when Mohamed Soroor came 44th/98th in Men’s Individual All-Round Qualification.

Athletes’ Profiles

In the Artistic Gymnastics we have 3 players:
1- Mohamed Sherif El Saharty was born in 26 July 1990 in Cairo, plays for the shooting club, he is in his final year in Faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo University, and he was qualified from the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo by choosing the best African all around gymnast. He also success to become All around Arab champion two years in a row: Arab championships (Kuwait 2011), Arab games (Doha 2011) and Arab championships (Kuwait 2012)
And the first Egyptian to win the all around gold medal in an Arab games since 1965. He also is the All around African champion for a three times in a row: Egypt 2009 (juniors), Namibia 2010 (seniors) and Tunisia 2012 (seniors). “At the Beijing 2008 Olympics I had the opportunity to go and watch the event but only as a spectator not as a participant, and since then I considered it my dream to take part in the London 2012 Olympics but this time as a participant and as a competitor. Never felt more motivated in my life when I knew my dream was coming true.”
2-Salma Mahmoud El Saied was born in 1 October 1991, playing for Police sporting club, she was qualified from the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo by choosing the best two ranking for the African all around gymnast, and she was the second. Salam has won the 1st place all around in the last African championship in Tunisia 2012, in addition to the 1st place all around in the 2011 pan Arab games in Doha. “I hope to make them proud of the Egyptian gymnastic, and I hope to be from the best 24 gymnast in the world so I can reach the finals” she said
3- Sherin El Zeiny, was born in 23 February 1991, in Cairo, playing for, she was qualified by replacing the South African player who have been injured, it will be her second appearance in the Olympics after she have been into Beijing 2008.While In the Rhythmic Gymnastics we have one girl in the individual.
4- Yasmine Rostom was born in 25 July 1993 in Cairo, playing for the Gezira Sporting club, qualified from the 2011 Rhythmic gymnastics World championship which held in Montpellier, France 19-25 September 2011, as the best African ranking female in this championship.
