It was an honor for Egypt to became the first Arab country to send an Olympic delegation; fencer Ahmed Hassanein to the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. And since then, the sport has started to grow more by the year; the number of its athletes was getting bigger, not only in Africa. but in the recent years Ayman Alaa become the first ever Egyptian to won a fencing world championship it was under 17 in 2008 followed by Alaa El Sayed who was won the 2010 junior world championship in Azerbaijan. In this games Egypt will participate in the women’s team foil as Shaimaa, Eman and Rana, and they was qualified as the best 16 teams in the world by traveled to two world cups in Budapest and Torino, Unfortunately, it was them who paid to travel these to those world cups not our federation, due to some problems in the budget of the Egyptian federation so they decided to pay all of them and travel to be qualified to the Olympics games. While in the men’s team foil will be Alaa, Tarek, Anas and Sherif.


The best Olympic achievement


Abd El-Moneam Hussiny had achieved the highest result for Egyptians in Los Anglos 1984, by reaching the round of 16 in the foil, also Tamer Tahoun, repeating the same achievement, by reaching the same round in the same event in Athena 2004.


Athletes’ Profiles


1- Shaimaa El Gamal Abd El Nabi Issmail El Gammal, was born on 30 January 1980 in Giza, playing for the police club, it will be her fourth appearance, as she have been in Sydney 2000, Athena 2004 and Beijing 2008, the first ever Egyptian female to do that, also she will take part in the women’s individual foil.
2- Eman El Gamal Abd El Nabi Issmail El Gammal was born on 30 September 1981 on Giza, playing for the police club, it will be her second appearance after Beijing 2008, also she will take part in the women’s individual foil.
3- Eman Shabaan was born on 11 January 1989, playing for El Shams club, it will be her second appreanc as she played Beijing 2008, she also will take part on the women’s team foil.
4- Rana Mohamed Tarek El Husseiny was born on 14 September 1991, playing for Gezira Sporting Club, Studying at the French University in Egypt, Faculty of Applied languages, specialized in “international Commerce”.
5- Mona Ahmed Abdelaziz was born on 11 Novmber 1985 in Alexandria, playing for the police club, she will take part in the women’s individual epee, and she was qualified by the first place at the 2012 African zone competition at Casablanca.
6- Salma Zein El Abedin Mohamed Mahran was born on 14 April 1990 in Alexandria, playing for the fencing club in Alexandria; she will take part in the women’s individual sabre
7- Alaa El Din Mohmed El Sayed Abo El Kasem, was born in 25 November 1990 in Algeria, playing for the fencing club in Alexandria, the Left-handed is a talented Egyptian foil fencer despite his young age, he could to achieve many accomplishment, as he was capturing the gold medal in the 2010 junior world championship in Azerbaijan and many others, he also will take part in the men’s individual foil.
8- Tarek Fouad Mohamed Kamel was born on 29 May 1987 in Alexandria, playing for the police club.
9- Anas Mahmoud Mostafa, was born on 1 Novamber 1990, playing for the Egyptian fencing club.
10- Sherif Farag, was born on 1 April 1987 on Alexandria, playing for the for the fencing club in Alexandria,.
11- Ayman Alaa El Din Mohamed Fayez was born in 3 March 1991 in Cairo, playing for the police club, he will take part in the men’s individual epee, and he was qualified as the best two ranking in Africa. He still 21 years old and it’s mean that he is still too young for competing in this sport in the Olympic as it’s need a lot of experience
