The revolution should be a real positive movement in Egyptian history by changing the habits and spirit not only on the youth who started it on 25th January but also should positively affect all Egyptians. What What was amazing is that in the few days following the 25th all ages and categories of people joined the revolution because they believe in the change and are desperate to see more freedom, dignity and social equality in Egypt which all are reasonable and legitimate requests and hopes for the Egyptians.

It is important to mention that what enabled this revolution to succeed was the Egyptian army as they protected just like putting a new born baby in the cradle right after its birth. The most important values of the revolution which were gained by the people are the strong patriotic feelings for the country and putting the needs of the country first and also to feel pride and dignity which we call in sport the motivation which should lead to a more positive fighting spirit on the field of competition. I think our athletes will do their best to win not only to get financial reward or for their prestige but more for their country and to raise their national flag
high and to hear the national anthem of Egypt.

This spirit is priceless and I believe it will be reflected not only in sport but will be reflected in all aspects and activities in the country.As in Tahrir square where there was no difference between Muslim and Christian, male and female, Ahly club fan or Zamalek club fan, I strongly believe we will witness better behaviour in the football matches from the spectators where all will feel that they are Egyptians first and most importantly.
In terms of federations and clubs elections regulations, we have already started a revision plan to the existing rules and regulations which should present its result by May of this year with enough time before the federations and clubs general assembly meetings. We will have discussions with sports officials from all sectors and organisations as well as with the media and sports experts to evaluate the regulations.
On my opinion one of the first thing, should come out of the revolution for sports is the limited period of authority especially now it is being considered to change the Constitution to limit the president to only a total of two terms. Also we need to include in the sports organizations board of directors some younger people which I hope that the youth now with their new spirit and thinking
will be an added value to their sports organisations. How old is the youth should be to join in is the subject of discussion and also what could be good for the federations will not necessarily be good for the clubs. All these ideas will be discussed and negotiated carefully.
At the end I hope that the revolution’s impact will continue on it’s basic and correct path which is more dignity, freedom and equality and hopefully it will not result in people being accused of being corrupt without true evidence by some irresponsible media
and I also hope that we will not end up with a divided society.

الثورة يجب أن تكون خطوة إيجابية فى التاريخ المصرى وذلك عن طريق تغيير العادات والروح العامة ليس فقط عند الشباب الذين بدأوالثورة فى 25 يناير ولكن أيضاً عند جميع فئات الشعب المصرى وقد كان رائعاً ومذهل إلتفاف وإنضمام جميع فئات الشعب مع الشباب فى الثورة فى خلال أيام قليلة منذ بدئها وهذا أرجعه إلى تطلع الجميع وإيمانهم بضرورة الحصول على مزيد من الحرية والكرامة والعدالة الإجتماعية وجميع هذه الطلبات هى طلبات وآمال مشروعة لجميع المصريين ومن المهم ذكر ان العنصر الأساسى المساعد لنجاح الثورة هووقوف الجيش المصرى بجانب الثوار وحمايتهم حتى تولد الثورة بالكامل بالضبط كما يحدث للطفل حديث الولادة والذى يوضع فى حضانة لرعايته فور ولادته. واعتقد أن من أهم مكاسب الثورة شعور الشعب بالروح الوطنية وان الجميع بدأ يضع مصلحة الوطن أولاً مع نموالشعور بالفخر والكرامة وهذه الروح تؤدى فى مجال الرياضة الى روح قتالية إيجابية والمنافسة على الفوز بإصرار وعزيمة وأعتقد ان أبطالنا الرياضيين سيبذلون كل الجهد للفوز فى المحافل الدولية ليس فقط من أجل الحصول على مكافأة ماليه اولإثبات ذاتهم ولكن من اجل وطنهم وحبهم لمصر ورغبتهم فى رفع علم بلدهم عاليا وسماع النشيد القومى لبلدهم.

 الروح الحماسية الإيجابية للثورة لا تقدر بمال وسوف تنعكس ليس فقط فى مجال الرياضة ولكن فى جميع مجالات الدولة. وكذلك بما أنه لم يكن فى ميدان التحرير فرق بين مسلم ومسيحى اوبين شاب وفتاة اوبين مشجع لنادى الزمالك أوللنادى الأهلى فأنا اعتقد بقوة أننا سوف نرى أخلاق وتصرفات جديدة راقية بين مشجعى مبارايات كرة القدم حيث سيسود الفخر والشعور بأنهم جميعاً مصريين قبل اى شىء. وبخصوص القوانين واللوائح الخاصة بالإتحادات والأندية الرياضية فإننا قد بدانا منذ فترة مراجعة اللوائح الحالية والمقترح تعديلها لتجهيزها قبل نهاية شهر مايومما يعطى الوقت الكافى للإتحادات والاندية أن تراجعها وتناقشها
قبل الجمعيات العمومية المختلفة.
وسوف ندعوالعديد من خبراء ومسؤلى الرياضة من جميع القطاعات المختلفة كذلك سوف ندعو وسائل الإعلام المعنية لمتابعة ومناقشة التعديلات وإبداء الإقتراحات اللازمة. وفى راى الشخصى أول ما يجب أخذه من روح الثورة هوتحديد مدة الرئاسة للرؤساء بدورتين فقط خاصة وان دستور البلد الجديد سوف يجعل مدة رئاسة رئيس الجمهورية فترتيين فقط ولمرة واحدة فى العمر. كذلك يجب التأكد من وإنضمام عناصر واعضاء شباب فى مجالس إدارة الاندية والإتحادات الرياضية خاصة وان الشباب اليوم يمتلك روح وفكر جديد سيكون بالتأكيد إضافة لتلك المؤسسات الرياضية.
وسوف يحدد اعمار هولاء الشباب عن طريق مناقشات ودراسة مع الآخذ فى الإعتبار أن ما قد يكون مناسب للإتحادات الرياضيية ليس بالضرورة سيكون مناسب للأندية الرياضية ولكن كل هذه المعايير سيتم دراستها
ومناقشتها جيداً وبدقة وفى النهاية أتمنى أن يستمر تأثير الثورة فى الإتجاه الصحيح من اجل مزيد من الكرامة والحرية والعدالة واتمنى أن لا ننتهى بإتهام بعضنا البع بالفساد بدون ادلة وحقائق واضحة عن طريق بعض القلة من وسائل الإعلام والإعلاميين الغير مسؤليين حتى لا ننتهى بمجتمع مقسم.

Due to the weak involvement of the schools, colleges and media organizations with Egyptian youth the picture of the youth was not good but after the revolution the picture is completely changed and they gained the respect, not only of their nation, but the whole world as well. The youth have unveiled the corruption and they woke the people up from a long sleep and proved that the National
Democratic Party was just an illusion built on a very weak base that collapsed when they faced their first challenge Now all Egyptian must vote with honesty and honour when the elections come and this time they will be sure of fairness as no cheating will occur.

But as I’m happy and proud I also worry about two issues; the first is that we have to concentrate now on working hard and rebuild our country and I truly believe that we should stop the strikes for some period as the Egyptian economy suffers every day we stop working or prevent others from working.
I also feel sympathy with the army and with Prime Minister,Dr. Ahmed Shafik, as they really have a big challenge in front of them especially when you consider the recent circumstances in Libya which will send at least one million unemployed people back to Egypt.
The second issue which worries me is the fact that some people in the media have started to attack some former governmental officials and accuse them of corruption without having the proof in their hands. I hope that editors-in-chief of the major publications, newspapers and TV channels will be more careful
before accusing anybody. In respect with sport, the effect is very strong as the youth is the largest category in society interested in sport and practicing sport. I hope that the good and progressing patriotic spirit of the youth will be reflected more and more in the national teams’ athletes as some of them are used to have more loyalty to their clubs than to their country.
Also I’m sure that the transparency of the revolution will push many of the sports officials who are in their position not to help their sports, but more to benefit from their position financially to review their situation and either change their spirit or leave their places to more honest ones.
In regards to board members of the sports federations, Olympic committee and clubs I think this is the time to change the law and make it like the new requested law for the country president period a maximum two rounds of total eight years for any elected person and not to come back at all agai leaving the opportunity to other people and that the Olympic Committee members should not be sports federation members at the same time.
One more thing, the sports federation member or president should be a former participant or practitioner of his or her sport to truly help and understand the sport’s needs and goals.

نظراً لضعف كل من المؤسسات التعليمية وكذلك المؤسسات الإعلامية فى التأثير على الشباب وعدم توضيح صورتهم فإن هذه الصورة قد تغيرت تماماً بع الثورة وقد أكتسبوهؤلاء الشباب إحترام كبير ليس فقط من جموع المصرين ولكن من العالم باسره. وقد كشف الشباب الفساد واستطاع ان ييقظ الشعب من الغفلة وأثبتوا أن الحزب الوطنى الديمقراطى كان مجرد مبنى وهمى مؤسس على قاعدة ضعيفة وانها ودمر فى اول تحدي واجهه الحزب.
الآن يجب على جميع المصريين التصويت بكل امانة وشرف عندما تأتي الانتخابات هذه المرة لأنها سوف تكون انتخابات نزيهة وعادلة وليست مثل ما كنت عليه قبل.
وعلى قدر سعادتى وفخرى بما حدث من تغيير أنا قلق بشأن قضيتين الأولى :
هي علينا أن نركز الآن على العمل بجد ونعيد بناء بلدنا وأعتقد حقا أننا ينبغي علينا ان نتوقف عن الإضراب عن العمل لان ذلك يؤثر على الاقتصاد المصري سلباً ولأنه ايضاً يمنع الآخرين من العمل. أشعر أيضا بالتعاطف مع الجيش ومع رئيس الوزراء الدكتور أحمد شفيق مما يواجه من تحدى كبير وخصوصاً لما حدث مؤخرا فى ليبيا والتى سوف ترسل على الاقل مليون مصرياً بدون عمل مما يزيد من نسبة البطالة فى مصر. أما القضية الثانية التي تقلقني هوأن بعض وسائل الإعلام قد بدأت بمهاجمة بعض المسؤولين السابقين بالحكومية واتهامهم بالفساد بدون وجود دليل في أيديهم يدينهم لذلك فإننى اطلب من الصحفيين فى المؤسسات والصحف والقنوا التليفزيونية أن يتوخوا الحذر قبل اتهامهم اى شخص بدون دلائل. فيما يتعلق بالرياضة – أن التاثير سوف يكون قوياً وذلك يرجع إلى ان الشباب يمثلوا الفئة الأكبر فى مجتمعنا وهم أيضاً الفئة المهتمة والممارس للرياضة .
وآمل أن الروح الطيبة والحماسية لشباب الثورة سوف تنتقل ايضاً الى الرياضيين فى المنتخابات ويصبح ولائهم ليس فقط لأنديتهم التى ينتموا اليه ولكن لبلدنا الحبيب أولاً وقبل أى شىء أيضاً أننى واثق من شفافية هذه الثورة وانها ستدفع العديد من مسؤل الرياضة الذين طاغت مصالحهم المادية والشخصية على الرياضة للوقوف مع انفسهم وقفة حق ومراجعة واعادة النظر والتنحى عن منصبهم لأخرون يتسمون بالنزاهة. وفيما يتعلق باللوائح المنظمة لإنتخابات الإتحادات الرياضية واللجنة الأولمبية والنوادى اعتقد انه قد حان الوقت للتغيير وجعله مماثل للقانون الجديد الخاص بمدة رئيس الجمهورية بحد أقصى دورتين (8 سنوات) للرئيس المنتخب لإتاحة الفرصة لأشخاص اخرون يترشحون وكذلك يجب ان يكون أعضاء اللجنة الأولمبية ليسوأعضاء فى الإتحادات الرياضية فى نفس الوقت. كذلك يجب على عضوالإتحاد الرياضى اورئيس الإتحاد الرياضى الذى يترشح أن يكون ممارس سابق للرياضة لتفهمه احتياجات الرياضة واهدافها.

The revolution will definitely benefit the Egyptian people. With all the changes we are witnessing in our constitution, laws, and ways that people are starting to act in teamwork, the revolution has definitely achieved a lot. The future looks brighter but only if we can put our hands together and get the work done. First, we need to go back to our work routines, bring back all the good work ethics into our companies, learn how to achieve not only for ourselves but also for our community, and have common goals. If we can do this, we will have a country that have more democracy, true democracy, shared dreams and goals, and lots of faith that we can do great things. It takes a lot of courage to achieve a change, but it takes greater courage to make it work and build up on it to achieve results. I have faith that the Egyptian people want the best for their country and they will seize the opportunity to make it work. I will personally do my best to help Egyptian sports be on top of the sports world, involved in organising international events, and be represented in every major international event.

A lot of people might be discouraged at the moment, but the fact is that ‘we are heading for better waters’ as swimmers say. There were a lot of undefined rules in sports in Egypt, the near future shows a lot of possible changes in those rules to allow for setting up better competition standards, better organisational standards, and better sports management standards. Egyptians are well capable of following the rules if they believe in them, and I think the future shows a better overall prospect for laws that will benefit the progress of Egyptian sports. I see the future of Egypt as a host of major international competitions and sports events as all we needed is teamwork, and it is now evident that the Egyptian people are capable of achieving their goals if they set their minds to it, and are capable of working as a team when they need to. I look forward to a better future for sports in Egypt and I’m happy that my kids will get to enjoy this.

الشعب المصرى سوف يستفيد من هذه الثورة وذلك مع كل التغيرات التى نشهدها فى الدستور والقوانين والأساليب والسلو وبدايتها أن الشعب تكاتف وبدأ الناس فى العمل الجماعى. والثورة بالتأكيد قد حققت الكثير بالفعل وستمكنا من بناء مستقبل اكثر إشراقاً إذا تكاتف الجميع يد واحدة للعمل وإنجاز العمل بإتقا وذلك من خلال :
أولا ، نحن بحاجة إلى العودة إلى عملنا بإخلاقيات العمل الجي والتفانى فيه وكيفية تحقيق الإنجازات ليس فقط لانفسن وإنما أيضا لمجتمعنا وان تصبح اهدافنا مشتركة  اذا كنا نستطيع القيام بذلك، سيكون لدينا دولة لديها ديمقراطية وسنتمكن من تحقيق الديموقراطية الحقيقية والأحلام والأهداف المشتركة وبإيماننا القوى نستطيع أن نفعل ونحرز كثير من الأشياء العظيمة. وللوصول إلى التغيير سوف نحتاج الى الشجاعة ولكى نجعل التغيير يتحرك للأمام وللعمل به وتطبيقه سنحتاج الى المزيد من الشجاعة.
لدى إيمان بأن الشعب المصرى قادر على إحراز الأفضل لبلدهم الحبيب. واننى سوف أنتهز هذه الفرصة والعمل على انجاح ذلك، سأبذل قصارى جهدي شخصيا لمساعدة الرياضة المصرية لتكون فى مقدمة البلاد. وذلك من خلال المشاركة فى تنظيم دورات رياضية دوليه كبيرة. وانا بالفعل متفائلة جداً بشأن مستقبل الرياضة فى مصر وان الذى نحن مقبلين علية هوالأفضل. فى حين انه لدينا الكثير من القوانين الغير مفهومة والغير مبررة في الرياضة في مصر ، ولكن في المستقبل القريب سيكون هناك الكثير من التغيرات المحتملة في تلك القواعد للسماح لإقامة وإحراز معايير افضل للمنافسة والتنظيم والإدارة. المصريون قادرون على اتباع تلك القوانين على قدر إيمانهم بها وارى فى المستقبل القريب قوانين افضل والتى سوف تعود بالفائدة على الجميع وإحراز مزيد من التقدم فى الرياضة المصرية. وارى أيضاً مستقبل رياضى مشرق بإستضافة اهم الدورات الدوليه والأحداث الرياضة وذلك فى إطار عمل جماعى. ونحن نشهد فى الأونة الاخيرة ان الشعب المصرى اصبح قادراً على تحقيق اهدافه واصبح قادراً على العمل يد واحده واننى أتطلع إلى مستقبل أفضل للرياضة فى مصر وأننى سعيدة ايضاً أن اطفالى سوف تتمتع بهذا المستقبل المشرق.

Lately, businessmen in Egypt have corrupted Sport and that has prevented Egypt from repeating the success realized at the Athens Olympic Games 2004.There was a corrupt group controlling sports matters and acting in sycophantic way with decision makers and this situation led to an athletic failure.
I said this to Al Araby Newspaper on 4/6/2006 under the title of “Corruption lobby in Egyptian sport”. Everyone knows I’m one of the most active persons in the sports domain, and have led many Egyptian delegations that realised the most successful achievements in major international events such as; Moscow Youth Olympic Games in 1998, Tunisia Mediterranean Games in 2001, Athens Olympic Games in 2004, and Almeria Mediterranean Games in 2005 due to an excellent and wise leadership which encouraged team spirit to the athletes. After the publication of this article I hoped to eliminate corruption symbols in the sports domain especially after the resurrection of the recent youth revolution.

مما لا شك فيه ان الفساد يسيطر على القطاع الرياضى فى مصر ومنذ فترة طويلة وهذا ما دفعنى للتصريح أكثر من مرة بضرورة الإصلاح وخطورة الفساد على مسيرة التقدم الرياضى والتى شهدتها مصر عدة مرات عندما تحقق الفوز بجدارة فى بعض البطولات الدولية الهامة والتى كان على رئسها دورة الالعاب الأولمبية فى اثينا عام 2004  والتى شرفت برئاسة البعثة المصرية بها وكذلك ما تحقق ف دورة البحر الأبيض المتوسط فى تونس عام 2001 ودورة الالعاب الاولمبية للشباب بموسكوعام1998
ومنذ ذلك الحين يحاول الكثيرين إفساد التقدم الرياضى فى مص ومنهم للاسف بعض رجال الاعمال والذين أفسدوا المجال الرياضى تحت شعار الامبالاه من صانعى القرار الرياضى فى مصر مما ادى الى فشل وتدهور الرياضة فى العديد من المجالات.ولأننى أحاول منذ فترة طويلة إصلاح الرياضة فقد قمت بنشر مقال فى 4  تحت عنوان “ مجموعة الفاسدين فى /6/ صحيفة العربى بتاريخ 2006 قطاع الرياضة “محاولاً كشف الفساد وتصليح الاوضاع ولكن لم يتغيير شىء منذ ذلك الوقت. ولكن الآن بعد هذه الثورة العظيمة التى قام بها شباب مصر أتوقع التغيير.

I believe that the Egyptian revolution will most definitely benefit the Egyptians as it caused the notion to build a better country even in the simplest things. In the past two weeks I saw things that made me believe that we are witnessing a new age of a more civilised and progressive nation, I saw the youth building for a brighter future step by step.Our first step to head forward is to clean up the garbage yards in our country and the fleas will no longer survive. The second step is that everyone should focus and work hard each in his area for the most important goal of the revolution: A free Egypt!
I think that the revolution has proved that by perseverance and patience anything is possible.Moreover, optimism is spreading among the youth and so I believe that we will have more champions in all sorts of sports in the following years as changing the education system, health and the whole environment will result in a new Egyptian lifestyle.

أعتقد أن هذه الثورة المصرية بالطبع سوف يستفيد منها المصريون كاف لانها ببساطة تسببت فى مفهوم جديد الا وهوبناء بلد افضل والذى رأيته فى الأسبوعين الماضيين اشياء كثيرة جعلتنى ادرك أننا نشهد عصراً وافاقاً جديدة أكثر تحضراً وتقدماً ارى الشباب يسعوا فى بناء مستقبل اكثر اشراقاً خطوة بخطوة.والخطوة الاولى التى شرعنا فيها هى تنظيف الشوارع من القمامة والخطوة الثانية يجب على كل فرد على حدى ان يعمل جادً متفانياً فى عمله لتحقيق اهم اهداف الثورة التى تدعواليه هوان تكون – مصر حرة وقد أثبتت هذه الثورة بالمثابرة والصبر أنه لا يوجد مستحيل وان كل شىء ممكن تحقيقةونجد ان التفاؤل ينتشر بين شبابنا الرائع واعتقد انه سوف يكون لدينا المزيد من الابطال فى جميع أنواع الرياضات فى السنوات التاليه وانه سيتم تغيير نظام التعليم والصحة والبيئة مما سيؤدى إلى نمط حياتى احسن لمصرنا الجديدة.

The revolution of the 25th of January was an important necessity to let Egypt get out of the present dark tunnel and pass to the light of future. Therefore the youth of the 25th of January deserve to receive the award of brave and should get
real appreciation.
In my opinion the following are the most important achievement of the revolution were;
• Breaking down the barrier of fear
• Uniting all Egyptians
• Opening the files of corruption and capturing those who stole the nation’s wealth
• Giving hope to Egyptian youth
• Confirming the independence of Egyptian justice authorities
• Getting a more democratic society
• Giving the opportunity to youth for leadership in different fields As for the revolution’s affect on sport, we need another revolution similar to the 25th to happen in sport to get the following changes:
• Changing the sports rules and regulations to serve a democratic sports community and to free the regulations from unnecessary ties.
• The olympic committee along with sports federations.<
