The FIFA World Cup 2010 is over. The winners are probably still recovering from the excesses of their celebrations and the losers are commiserating with each other. It is too early to tell how well South Africa benefitted but there are positive signs. The dire warnings about a crime wave threatening foreign visitors were totally unfounded and even the Vuvuzela survived and will probably be the icon of these games. But the key to success of a tournament like the World Cup is not how many million hamburgers were sold or whether the games all started on time, it is the strength of the good memories people go home with and the excitement the event generated
among people who did not attend but watched at home on TV surrounded by friends.
The memories may be stored on cell phones or imbedded on DVDs or as here, published in a favourite magazine. In any case they will last long into the future. Enjoy the great moments of the game once again.
