IT was a long time since Egyptian basketball teams participated in the Olympic Games, but now the youth team is going to represent Egypt in the first Youth Olympic Games, where they play using the 3-on-3 system on a half-court outdoors.
The best Olympic achievement
Egypt national basketball appeared seven times in the Olympic Games, the best results achieved were in Los Angeles 1984 and in Seoul 1988 and in both came finished in 12th place.

Tamer Salah, who won the bronze medal in men’s under 58 KG after beating Juan Ramos of Spain in the final to reach the first medal ever for the Egyptian Taekwondo. And also, Noha Safwat, who got the 5th place in Beijing 2008, making her the best Arab female in the Olympics.

Archery is one of the sports that have been recently introduced in Egypt catching up with its evolution around the world. In this year’s Youth Olympic Games, there will be individual Junior Men, Junior Women and Mixed Team competitions. The distance that athletes will be shooting is 70m. The Olympic round starts with a ranking match, followed by the individual and team elimination format.

The best achievement for Egyptian archery was in Beijing 2008 when Soha Abd el Aal and the current coach Maged Mohie both reached the round of 32.

Modern Pentathlon is a very exciting and popular Olympic sport, in which the pentathletes compete in 5 different Sports; Fencing, Swimming, Horse riding, and the Combined Competition of Shooting and Running. In the Yoouth Olympics only four sports will be
included, the Horse riding will be excluded. In Egypt, Modern Pentathlon is a very successful sport, and its federation is always encouraging new champions at different age groups by giving them the opportunity to compete in most international championships, where they usually achieve high ranks. Hopefully the same achievements will be done this year in Singapore.
The Best Olympic Achievement
The best Olympic performance for the Egyptian modern pentathlon was by the superstar Aya Medany, who was finished 8th/36 at Beijing 2008. Aya was a very close from the medals in Beijing, but unfortunately, she didn’t, but she did become the best Arabic pentathletes female of all the time.
